Conquering the Copyright Beast: Navigating the World of Copyright for Digital Archives and Digitized Materials

Let’s talk about copyright! Do you have questions about copyright and its role in digital archives? Are you working on a digitization project and have questions about the copyright of digitized materials? Do you want to learn more about copyright and how to communicate about it? If you answered yes to any of these questions, please join us for the SIA’s Fall workshop as we host Joshua Kitchens, Director of Archival Services and Digital Initiatives for the George Public Library Service, for an in-depth conversation about copyright and its role in digital archives. During this workshop, we will explore the basics of copyright, copyright issues with digital materials, strategies for mitigating copyright issues, and how to talk with administrators, patrons, and donors about copyright. Copyright can be a challenging topic, but together we can untangle some of its complexities.
