Migratory Patterns of Metadata: A Practical Exploration of Software Evaluation, Migration, and Implementation

Is your institution contemplating a software or data migration? Have you ever wanted to learn about some of the content management system (CMS) options out there? Are you curious about how your archival peers evaluate and choose what software to use?

If you answered yes to any of the previous questions, please join us for the 2025 SIA Fall Workshop - “Migratory Patterns of Metadata: A practical exploration of software evaluation, migration, and implementation at Wabash College” on October 17, 2025.

At this year's Fall workshop, we will discuss software and data migration, software evaluation, and implementation. During the morning session, a panel of speakers will share their experiences with software and data migration efforts at their institutions, along with tips for determining what software might work for your repository.

Following lunch, there will be a tour of the Robert T. Ramsay, Jr. Archival Centerlocated in the Lilly Library on the scenicWabash College campus. The Ramsay Archival Center is the primary repository for the collection and preservation of Wabash College’s historic and special collections, including the College Archives, Rare Books, Manuscripts, and Special Collections. The tour will include an in-depth look at the Ramsay Archival Center's work and facilities and the highlights of its collections

The afternoon session will feature demonstrations from our speakers and time for attendees to discuss specific issues and topics raised by the group. The discussion section will focus on collaborative, small group discussions about archival software experiences, troubleshooting, and shared road bumps.
