Welcome to the Society of Indiana Archivists!
Who We Are and What We Do
The Society of Indiana Archivists (SIA) is an organization of archivists, researchers, and others who are actively concerned with establishing, developing, preserving, promoting, and using archival collections.
SIA provides a forum for the exchange of information and ideas related to archival collections and best practices, and it serves as a liaison among individuals and institutions working with archival collections in the state.
Cancelled: MAC Fall 2020 Symposium
On May 8, 2020, the Midwest Archives Conference (MAC) Council met virtually with SIA leadership to discuss joint planning for the 2020 MAC Symposium to be held in Indianapolis during October 9-10, 2020. After a lengthy discussion, it was a unanimous decision to postpone the Symposium due to the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease.
Many factors went into this decision, including the uncertainty professionals are currently facing, such as lack of funding, travel restrictions, and overall, a concern for the health and safety of our membership and the larger community.
SIA leadership is addressing the need for an educational alternative to its membership before the end of this year. We look forward to providing more details with you soon. As always, your feedback is welcome, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.
